It’s Been…

December 3rd, 2008

Yes, It’s been a while since I last posted on my wonderful blog about nonsense. This is because I have been super busy. The most recent thing I have been busy with is the unexpected birth of my daughter, Klara. Klara was born on Nov. 23rd, 2008. She was a month and a week early (so they say) but I am very happy she is here and she is healthy. I could stare at her for hours. Other than me being a father I have also been busy with the 5 new writers that have become a part of Everyday Gamers. These guys are such a blessing and are really helping make Everyday Gamers everything I’ve wanted it to be. They are truly helping me take it to the “next level.” So yes, I have been pretty busy with the site and my new daughter but I have also been playing some great games as well. These games include: Left 4 Dead, Fallout 3, LittleBigPlanet, Far Cry 2, and Fable II. Of these games I’ve finished Fable II, Far Cry 2, and Left 4 Dead. I plan on going back to Left 4 Dead  often since the replay value is so high but the game I am focusing my attention on now is Fallout 3. I am not very far but so far I really like it and can’t wait to see what’s ahead. I love the exploring aspect of the game and I want to try and make sure I go at my own pace and not rush. I will make sure I keep up with posting from now on.

Happy Belated Thanksgiving everyone!

I guess it’s too late…

Thursday

October 23rd, 2008

Has it been a while since I wrote? I forget. Anyways, the gaming season has truly kicked-off for me as of Tuesday. I picked up the long-awaited Fable II. I never played the original Fable but with all of the promises there was no way I could pass up the second one. So far I am really enjoying it. For me it reminds me of Oblivion just a little less hardcore. This is perfect for me. Right now I am currently saved in Oakfield, about to speak with that monk guy for the second time. I’m also trying to find the perfect wife and a good house. But yes, I’m enjoying the game and plan on playing more tonight. On Wednesday I picked up Far Cry 2. Far Cry 2 is not exactly how I thought it would be, it’s a lot harder. I feel like I am playing it wrong. I knew it would be open world but I am having a tough time with it. Traveling and navigating with the map is taking the majority of my time and I am constantly dying. My one major complaint with the game thus far is that the character walks way too slow. There is a run button but it’s so finicky that I don’t even use it. I wish I could change the default walking speed. Other than all of these complaints there is something about the game that draws me in and I can’t wait to play some more of it. I think I need to play a little more relaxed and take my time. Overall the experience is great and it feels very real like I was actually hanging out in Africa last night. This weekend I will be away with my family, we are going camping. After this little weekend trip my wife and I will be heading back to my hometown of Johnstown, PA. We are most likely going to stay a week, during this time I will be hanging out with fellow EDG’er Kurt Roberts so you can expect another podcast (finally) out of us. We’ll make sure we make it awesome. I also plan on playing LittleBigPlanet all week next week so we will have a lot to talk of that. Expect some more vidcasts as well. Also make sure you take the time to check out Brian Kunde’s debut with his Saints Row 2 review. Welcome to the team Brian! I hope to keep the site updated as much as possible during the time that I am gone but it may be a little slower than usual. I guess we’ll see. Anyone picking up Fallout 3?

Waiting

October 15th, 2008

I’ve been impatiently waiting for October 21st seeing as it’s the release date of three great games, Fable 2, LBP, and Far Cry 2. In this time of impatience I brought out the game of all games, Half-Life 2, and played through some of the beginning levels. I then re-realized that it is truly an amazing game, a game everyone needs to play…EVERYONE! I cannot wait for HL2: Episode 3 which is rumored to be announced before the end of ‘08. After that I whipped out some Skate which is a personal favorite, can’t wait for some Skate 2. The next day I finished off Assault Heroes 2 with my wife, we hadn’t played it in a while and found out we were only 2 sections away from finishing it. After Assault Heroes I decided to get back to Ratchet & Clank: Quest for Booty which I forgot I hadn’t finished and still haven’t finished. One more thing, I dusted off my PSP today and downloaded the 5.0 firmware update. I am siked about the addition of the PS Store which is going to make it very tempting to pick up some more games now that I can just download them right from my PSP. This was something Sony should have done a while ago but I am happy none-the-less. I’m thinking of hacking my PSP to play some homebrew games. I do not plan on pirating PSP games though, that is just rude. My plans for surviving the next few days until Oct. 21st are to play the games in my dust-off list. We’ll see if do it.

Far Cry 2

October 10th, 2008

Far Cry 2 is truly looking to be an easy target for Game of the Year. The more I see of it the more I am impressed. It’s starting to become the game I am most looking forward to. Above Fallout 3, above Mirror’s Edge, above Fable 2, and almost above LittleBigPlanet. FC2 and LBP release on the same day so I am totally siked. Two weeks can’t pass fast enough.
